The Magical Beaded Bracelets

Guatemalan Textile
Inspired by Patzún, Guatemala
The Payas of Patzun that inspired the drawings you see in this bracelet have symbols in them that represent elements such as: nine half-moons which belong to the nine months of pregnancy; two double headed eagles representing duality; three sections of leaves representing the tree of life; two jaguars and two deer at each end symbolizing royalty; three birds or doves to send the messages to the sky; beneath both deer a figure of a monstrance (a catholic figure) symbolizing the sun – the center of the universe; a symmetric cross which indicates the four corners of the universe.
BEADED BRACELET
Created by amazing Mayan Artist!
These beautifully crafted bracelets were made in Santiago Atitlan, in Guatemala by Tz'utujil women. In modern Mayan Societies, Mostacilla (beads) is one of the most used techniques in jewelry to adorn garments and special events. Here we used this detailed and beautiful technique to create a Beaded Bracelet with the perfect combination between contemporary design and artisanal techniques in one bracelet.
